Dog days of Downtown Silver Spring

Be sure to join us in downtown Silver Spring this upcoming Sunday November 13 between 11am-3pm for the 4th annual Dog Days! This annual fun pet and family event is the region's largest free celebration of our doggie companions! There will also be many local rescue groups and shelters with dogs available for adoption. And don't forget to bring your dogs! (as long as they are friendly, and on a leash!)

About Rawhide Chews

Many rawhide chews are too hard, inviting broken teeth, and some are splintery, risking perforated intestines and other internal injuries. What you can do is actively supervise your dog when he or she is chewing a chew. To reduce the risk of choking or bowel obstructions take it away from them if it starts shedding pieces that you wouldn't want them to swallow whole or when it gets close to the end. Look for chews that are made from a single, thick sheet of rawhide, and avoid rawhide products that are unnaturally white (indicates extensive chemical treatment).

Importance of Doggie Daycare

While you are at work or running errands, you should consider bringing your dog to doggie daycare. The stimulation and environment is healthy and necessary for any type of dog. Whether your dog is high energy, young, old, suffers from separation anxiety etc., doggie daycare would allow them to be around people and other dogs, which is what make them the happiest. Don't leave your friend in a crate all day, bring him or her to Potomac Dog School!

Why choose Cageless Boarding?

Assuming that your dog is not aggressive or elderly, cageless boarding is a perfect option! In the cageless boarding, they are in the pack environment which is what nature intended. They will receive plenty of exercise and attention. Cageless boarding dogs are able to run around all day inside and outside, because of our 2800 square foot OUTSIDE area which is attached to our 4000 square foot indoor facility. Meeting different dogs with different personalities also allows them to work on their social skills which is very important. The pack changes everyday, (whenever a new dog arrives or leaves), which teaches them to adapt.
