Frequently Asked Questions
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS ABOUT OUR SHUTTLE SERVICE
What is the shuttle?
The shuttle picks up and drops off your dog, provided you live within our service area. Shuttles must be scheduled. If you live outside our service area it will be calculated.
Where does it pick up?
It picks up your dog at your house. If you are outside our service area, call to see if there is a mutually agreeable place within our radius.
When does it pick up and drop off?
Pick up is usually between 7:30 and 10AM, drop off between 4:30 and 7:30PM, depending on traffic and the number of dogs taking the shuttle.
How much does it cost?
The shuttle costs $20 each way. If you are doing Daycare, consider our Premium Package for cheaper prices.
Do I have to use the shuttle?
No, it is a service. Shuttle service is available to our daycare, boarding, training, grooming, and retail clients.
Do I have to be home to have my dog picked up or dropped off?
No. We are bonded and insured and will accept keys or security codes.
Can I schedule for a specific time?
We do not guarantee specific drop off/pick up times, which is why it is best to leave a key/security code if your schedule is very tight.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS ABOUT OUR DOGGIE DAYCARE SERVICES
What is Daycare?
Doggie Daycare allows your dog to play with others in an open environment with other dogs. Instead of being placed in a crate all day, your dog can relax and join other dogs in play.
How much does Daycare cost?
We have two packages, one without shuttle (Regular) and one including shuttle (Premium). See our Daycare page for packages.
How old does my dog have to be?
We accept dogs over 12 weeks, with younger pups considered on a limited basis.
Do you accept older dogs?
Yes, on a case by case basis.
How can my dog attend Daycare?
We will do an evaluation of your dog to determine if your dog will be able to attend Daycare. If your dog is aggressive, possessive, or extremely shy or fearful, he or she may not be allowed.
Do you offer half-day Daycare?
Yes, but we only run the shuttle in the morning and the evening. You must pick up or drop-off your dog at 1pm.
How do the packages work?
Purchases are made up front. The prices are per day, per dog, and the packages are good for six months. Dogs must live at the same address to qualify for multiple dog discounts. See our Daycare and Boarding page for prices.
Will my little dog be safe?
A: Yes. Small dogs are kept in their own area.
My little dog does fine with my large dog. Can he/she play with the larger dogs?
A: Maybe. Play will be watched closely. If the other dogs are not rough players, your little dog might be able to play with them under supervision.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS ABOUT OUR GROOMING SERVICES
How old does my dog need to be to be groomed?
A: Between 4 and 6 weeks of age, provided your pet is in good health.
My pet’s nail is bleeding! What should I do?
A: Occasionally, nails can be quicked as a result of the grooming process. The quick is a small nerve inside the toenail that nourishes the nail shaft so it will be healthy and grow. After nails are cut, pets can either wear away some of that nail due to their normal activity running about on pavement or in normal wear and tear. Then, the quick is exposed and can bleed. Just like if you get a paper cut or cut your own nails too short. If the nail starts to bleed, you can use a small amount of stypic powder (which is found in your pet supply) and hold it to the nail for 15 seconds. Otherwise, you can use household cornstarch or flour .
How often should I brush my dog?
A: All dogs can be brushed every day. Brushing massages the skin and encourages the circulation of sebum through the coat. The sebum (oil) is what keeps the coat clean and healthy by keeping dirt away from the hair shaft. It also keeps it good condition.
What type of brush should I use for my dog?
A: A brush should be chosen based on the length of the dog’s coat and what type of coat it has. Boxers and pit bulls have short hair, so a curry or rubber brush works best. Most other breeds. a pet slicker brush works best. However, it can vary by the dog and coat condition.
How often should my dog be groomed?
A: It depends on the breed and what type of style you’d like to maintain.
What do I need to do between appointments?
A: All pets can benefit from routine at-home care, even if you do have your pet professionally groomed. It may vary by dog, but brushing, cleaning the teeth and ears, and trimming of the nails all should be done on a regular basis.
Why does my dog’s breath smell?
A: The teeth may need to be brushed. If you see brownish buildup on the teeth, that isn’t normal. While a dog’s saliva does have some antibacterial qualities, they still do need to have their teeth brushed. Dry food and crunchie toys are not enough to prevent the accumulation of food deposits and unhealthy bacteria in the dog’s mouth. All dogs can have their teeth brushed twice a week.
What dogs need to be professionally groomed?
A: All dogs need grooming and can benefit from professional grooming, even if they don’t have a lot of coat and just need a bath. A groomer will be able to notice other things with your dog that are important for their health and well-being, that you may overlook. We can also ensure proper care of the skin and coat, beyond what you’re able to do at home.
How long does it take?
A: It depends on the individual dog and service involved, the day’s schedule, and other factors.
